The American School of Benguerir is a non-profit, independent, college preparatory school committed to providing an inspirational, safe and balanced learning environment. The school opened preschool and elementary divisions (Age 2 to Grade 10) in September 2025,.
ASB is part of a well-established family of schools governed by the Board of Trustees of The American School of Tangier Corporation. ASB is a sister school for the American School of Tangier (Opened in 1950) and The American School of Marrakesh (Opened in 1995). Both schools are accredited by The Middle States Association; ASB is applying for accreditation by MSA and the International Baccalaureate Organization.
Located in the town of Benguerir, about an hour from the well known city of Marrakech, the school is designed for the children of foreign and local families working at University Mohammed VI, Polytechnic, and for children of the local community. The school and the university are at the center of the future "Green City of Benguerir", a city of more than 100,000 inhabitants to be built in the next few years.
The educational program at ASB is based on U.S. standards and benchmarks. Students in grades PreK-12 will receive instruction in English in the areas of Language Arts, Mathematics, Social Studies, Science, Art, Music, and Information Technology. As for languages, Arabic and French are taught starting in pre-kindergarten.
Students are exposed to a broad and balanced program to nurture their intellectual, emotional, social and physical development, and to prepare them to be well-rounded individuals.
The school provides a wireless environment. In addition to the Computer Lab, each class is equipped with a computer station and an interactive projector. Students are also encouraged to bring their own devices when appropriate. The educational program is supplemented with a wide range of online licenses and software (Encyclopedias, Online Library, IXL Math & English, etc.) that allow teachers to integrate technology into daily instruction and to strengthen teaching & learning.
Sports and co-curricular activities are a very important component of our program. We have dedicated teachers for Physical Education, who introduce a varied program of sports and activities, including field trips, to every class.
We offer a stimulating after-school program to students in Grades PreK-12 covering a range of activities including team sports, karate, gymnastics, visual arts, music, drama, dance, math, chess, community service and creative writing.
