About the School
The International School of Myanmar (ISM) is the largest International School in Myanmar. We offer an American education to approximately 520 students in grades Pre-K 3 through Grade 12. Our students attend the top Universities and Colleges throughout the world. Staff at ISM come from all over the world and predominantly from North America. Staff is housed in ISM provided fully serviced and furnished apartments and transport is provided on school days between School housing and ISM. Myanmar is a safe, friendly, and unique place to be, and teaching at ISM is a rewarding professional experience. Our internationally experienced teaching staff consistently state that our students are the best they have worked with anywhere in the world. Taxes
Salary is taxed at the government rate, ranging from 8% - 13% depending on wages earned.
Savings Potential
Living expenses in Yangon are very low. Teachers can easily live off of $500 or less per month.
Accommodation
Teachers are provided fully furnished housing by ISM. Teachers are housed in 2 different apartment buildings/condos. All are serviced apartments and are either one-bedroom or two-bedroom units. NO PETS ALLOWED
Flights/Transport
Teachers are provided yearly round trip flights to the home of record. The school provides transportation to and from school each day.
Utilities
Paid by the school, including the home internet.
Furniture
All apartments are fully furnished and serviced. Cleaning takes place, including washing of linens on a regular basis.
Moving Allowance
$500 for a single teacher and $1,000 for a teaching couple.
Dependent Opportunities
Some of our non-teaching dependents have been hired to be substitute teachers. Other non-teaching dependents have worked remotely or found work with NGO's in Yangon. The school is able to provide visas for non-working/accompanying partners.
Medical
We provide worldwide health insurance through TieCare. Teachers may choose to add U.S. coverage for a small fee.
