About: Yongsan International School of Seoul

Yongsan International School of Seoul (YISS) is a private, K-12 school that offers an American curriculum to approximately 1000 students from more than 50 countries.

YISS’s international teaching faculty represents 11 different countries and averages over nine years of professional teaching experience. Faculty are required to be approved through the Network of International Christian Schools (NICS) as well as YISS.

YISS seeks to hire highly qualified, passionate, Christian educators and staff who inspire a love of learning and compassion for others.

YISS is a NICS/Oasis school. Accredited by WASC and ACSI, YISS’s instructional program is academically rigorous and includes an extensive offering of AP courses at the high school level. Its comprehensive extracurricular program includes a rich array of athletics, performing and fine arts, community service, and leadership opportunities that aim to develop the whole child.

YISS alumni are confident, well-rounded, independent, and critical thinkers who continue their studies at many of the world’s most selective universities.

Conveniently located in the heart of the international community of Seoul, the Yongsan International School of Seoul campus is a secure enclave where green space complements modern architecture.

The school’s state-of-the-art facilities include the latest technology, two libraries, two gymnasiums, a cafeteria, a 500-seat auditorium, a full-size turf soccer field, and a beautiful indoor swimming pool.

The capital of the Republic of Korea, Seoul is a bustling metropolis of culture, commerce, and entertainment. There are endless shopping centers, department stores, and markets to explore, plus an incredible foodie and nightlife scene. The city’s public transportation system is highly efficient, making it easy to get around, and the city’s landmarks and attractions are easily accessible.

 

Benefits: Yongsan International School of Seoul

Number of Contract Days: 180 teaching days.

Taxes: YISS pays the Korean individual income taxes for the employee on all compensation listed on the employee’s annual contract as salary. Please note that the employee is responsible for his/her home country tax liabilities.

Accommodation: YISS provides furnished housing for each employee. Housing is selected by YISS and is arranged as 1 Bedroom Apartment/Villa for Single Staff, 2 Bedroom Apartment/Villa for Staff with a Spouse, 3 Bedroom Apartment/Villa for Staff with Family. YISS pays housing key monies (deposits), real estate fees, and rent. Please note that all utilities (phone, cable, gas, water, electricity), unit maintenance fees, and other costs are the responsibility of the employee.

Retirement: YISS provides Matching Retirement Benefits for overseas direct hire employees from up-to 7.5% to 20% depending on the years of employment. The Employee must contribute the full percentage to receive the full YISS contribution to the matching retirement benefit.

Flights/Transport: YISS provides a one-way economy ticket for the employee and dependents from his/her home of record to Seoul, Korea, for the initial YISS employment contract. These tickets are purchased by YISS in coordination with new staff arriving for New Staff Orientation. After arrival in Korea, the overseas direct hire employees are eligible to receive the annual airfare benefit. The airfare benefit is ₩2,000,000 per employee and accompanying spouse, ₩1,200,000 for each dependent (on the family registry) residing in Korea.

Dependent opportunities: All YISS overseas direct hire employee dependents who are in elementary, middle, or high school receive the tuition benefit for their child(ren). No tuition cost is charged to the Employee. Please note that the employee is responsible for the cost of uniforms, school supplies, activity fees, and any other incidental expenses.

Medical: International medical insurance premiums are paid 100% by YISS for qualifying overseas direct hire employees and dependents. YISS gives each employee a stipend in the amount of ₩500,000 to cover the annual deductible for each employee on staff. Any deductible or co-pay for dependents is the responsibility of the employee. This policy includes a $10,000 life insurance policy for the employee. Dependents over the age of 18 will only be covered if enrolled full-time in a college or university.

Notification Bonus + Return Bonus: Full-time Employees who notify YISS of their plans for service and ministry for the succeeding school year by the annual notification date announced will receive ₩1,000,0000 Notification Bonus. Employees returning to YISS under new contracts will receive a KRW 2,000,000 Return Bonus. This benefit does not go into effect until the EMPLOYEE is in his/her second year of full-time employment with YISS or upon completion of the first two-year contract.
