About: American International School of Budapest (AISB)

American International School of Budapest (AISB) is a private and independent co-educational day school governed by a Board of Trustees elected and appointed from its parent community. The school was established in 1973 by the United States Embassy, initially to serve children of U.S. Government employees.

Today, AISB serves the needs of a rapidly expanding international population, including families of the local and expatriate business and diplomatic communities, as well as host-country nationals.

AISB offers an international curriculum from Multiage 3 through Grade 12, informed by best teaching practices. At the high school level, AISB offers three options for students to achieve their diploma: the American High School (AISB) Diploma, the Innovation Diploma, and the International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma.

AISB’s student body is currently comprised of over 940 students representing 60 nationalities. AISB is committed to preserving this international character to foster a positive learning environment as well as develop lifelong learners and globally responsible citizens of tomorrow.

American International School of Budapest (AISB) curriculum is based on clearly articulated, internationally benchmarked standards. AISB emphasise critical thinking skills and creativity through an inquiry-based approach to teaching and learning.

AISB students create, perform, analsze, and respond to music, theatre, visual, and media arts, developing in-depth skills in at least one art form. AISB value art as an expression of human experience and encourage ITS students to apply their artistic knowledge and skills throughout their lifetimes.

Service Learning makes curricular connections and helps students identify genuine needs in their local community and in the larger world. AISB’S program supports the school’s mission by preparing its students to be responsible global citizens.

AISB offers a wide range of athletic and co-curricular activities for students to explore possibilities and improve their existing skills. AISB provides students with opportunities to discover new areas of interest, engage in healthy competition and pursue their passions.

Two buildings, linked by a bridge, AISB’s entire student body. The Elementary building houses students from Multiage 3 to Grade 5 while the Middle and High School building is home to Grades 6 through 12.
