We had the pleasure of chatting with Pamela Garza, an experienced teacher who recently took the plunge into international education! Pamela successfully applied for the position of First Grade Homeroom Teacher at The American School of Dubai on Schrole.
Pamela was kind enough to share insights into her career, what attracted her to her new position, and her experience using the Schrole platform.
Career overview
A dedicated and passionate teacher for the better part of two decades, Pamela finally took the plunge into the international teaching sector – a lifelong dream.
“I’ve been a teacher for 15 years in Mexico.
“I was interested in teaching abroad and for the first time I’ll be able to do it.”
Discovering and applying for her new position
After being recommended Schrole by a colleague, Pamela jumped onto the platform and began researching opportunities around the globe.
“Schrole was a key part in my job searching process and I was hired using the platform!”
Pamela applied and received a job offer for First Grade Homeroom Teacher at The American School of Dubai.
“I found the opportunity by simply searching the Schrole database.
“It’s a lower elementary position which is a perfect fit for my profile.”
The appeal of The American School of Dubai
The American School of Dubai (ASD) is a college preparatory, PreK to G12, independent, not for profit, US curriculum school. Committed to fostering a safe and inclusive school climate and learning environment, ASD denounces all forms of discrimination and inequality.
Pamela outlines this emphasis on diversity on inclusion as a major part of choosing to apply for her role.
“American School of Dubai has a good reputation and culture. I know that ASD offers the best training and benefits to teachers.
“The school’s diversity and inclusion policy was also something really important for me.”
Located in a residential area within Dubai, the ASD campus is a 23-acre, million square foot, wireless, state-of-the-art facility, including spaces designed to promote phenomenal learning experiences for approximately 2,000 students, representing over 80 nationalities.
Pamela’s experience with Schrole
Having been with Schrole for eight months, Pamela found her membership to be worth its weight in gold.
“If you’re considering Schrole, it’s absolutely worth it. It’ll help you know your options around the world.
“I love being able to filter by country or job position.
I have been a school-level user of Schrole for recruiting for the last three hiring cycles and have found the platform they provide to be intuitive and comprehensive. The user interface stands out from others in the market as a crisp interface with the right level of features included at the right places. For me, the top two features are the ability to create school-specific application questions for applicants, and the availability of a short and long form applicant documentation PDF. If you’re looking for a recruiting platform, I highly recommend considering Schrole.
