We had the pleasure of chatting with Ansophie Niemand, a skilful problem solver and passionate international teacher. Ansophie successfully applied for the position of Student Support Coordinator and Teacher at MYIS International School in Thailand.
Ansophie was kind enough to share insights into her career, what attracted her to her new position, and her experience using the Schrole platform.
Career overview: Ansophie Niemand
Ansophie began her career as a preschool teacher in her home country of South Africa in 2012. Quickly realising her passion for learning support, she moved into the position of Head of Inclusion and Grade 1 Teacher at Laerskool Roossenekal Primary, also in South Africa, in 2014.
“I’m really passionate about Learning Support and working from a strength-based perspective.”
In 2016, Ansophie began her journey into international education, taking on the position of ESL and Support Teacher at Maple Leaf Foreign National School in Dalian, China.
“At Dalian, I planned, differentiated instruction and organised assessment of ESL classes. I was also responsible for the push in/pull out small ESL learning support sessions.”
Impressed by her problem-solving ability and work ethic, Ansophie was soon promoted to Student Support Lead at Dalian.
“I was responsible for the creation and implementation of Academic Support plans, teacher training, student support classes, academic tracking for graduation, credit recovery and peer mentoring. I also provided social emotional counselling and directly liaised with families.”
In 2019, Ansophie accepted the position of School Counsellor at KAIS International Elementary and Middle School in Tokyo, Japan.
“As the Learning Support Lead I created and implemented IEPs, trained teachers, and facilitated support sessions with students. I also undertook social emotional counselling sessions and completed the development and implementation of SEL curriculum.
“As Designated Safeguarding Lead, I was also responsible for the creation and implementation of policy, record keeping, and admin duties related my role.”

Ansophie’s experience with Schrole
