Role purpose

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Korean Language Teacher to join our school. The ideal candidate will possess a passion for teaching Korean language and culture and have the ability to effectively engage students of diverse backgrounds. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering high-quality instruction in both Korean as a first language to Korean students and Korean as a second language to non-Korean students.

Key Responsibilities
- Curriculum Development: Develop and implement comprehensive and engaging curriculum for both Korean first language and Korean second language programs, aligning with International Baccalaureate standards and objectives.
- Instructional Delivery: Deliver effective and differentiated instruction to meet the needs of Korean-speaking and non-Korean-speaking students, utilizing a variety of teaching methodologies and resources.
- Assessment and Feedback: Develop appropriate assessment tools and strategies to evaluate student progress in language acquisition and proficiency. Provide timely and constructive feedback to students to support their language development.
- Cultural Integration: Foster an appreciation for Korean language, literature, and culture among students, promoting cross-cultural understanding and communication.
- Collaboration: Collaborate with colleagues within the language department and across disciplines to integrate Korean language and culture into the broader school curriculum and activities.
- Parent Communication: Maintain open and proactive communication with parents regarding student progress, curriculum, and program expectations.
- Professional Development: Engage in ongoing professional development activities to stay current with best practices in language teaching and IB curriculum frameworks.

Qualifications & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Korean language, education, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
- Teaching certification or licensure in Korean language education.
- Proficiency in both written and spoken Korean and English.
- Previous experience teaching Korean language at the secondary level, preferably in an IB or international school setting.
- Strong understanding of the International Baccalaureate program and its language acquisition frameworks.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a multicultural environment.
