How is the TAE40116 – Certificate IV in Training & Assessment delivered?

The Certificate IV Training and Assessment is delivered face to face over four modules (10 units of competency) at our Osborne Park Training facility. The modules are spread over a minimum of six months to embed the application of learning in the workplace.

Module 1 - Introduction to training and assessment focuses on planning for and conducting training and assessment activities in the vocational workplace.  This course is aligned to meet the on-the-job training requirements of industry.

This introductory course is suitable for people starting out in a training environment in their chosen industry or at a registered training organisation (RTO).

It is ideal for participants that have been nominated by their employers to become on-the-job trainers/ assessors as they have been deemed to have suitable vocational competence/ subject matter expertise in their area of training delivery/ assessment.

It is also recommended as a starting point for individuals who have skills and experience in a particular field and would like to move into a training role as the next step in their career.

Individuals working in a learning and development role will also benefit from this course and enhance their knowledge of training programs and how to assess learners effectively within the VET framework.

Module 2 - Designing training focuses on conceptualising, designing, developing and reviewing learning programs to meet an identified need for a group of learners by taking into consideration the parameters of a learning program, determining its design, outlining the content, and reviewing its effectiveness.

This course allows the learner to use training packages and accredited courses as tools to support industry, organisation and individual competency development needs in the designing training programs. 

This course applies to trainers or facilitators who work under limited supervision to design, or develop, learning programs that are discrete, and provide a planned learning approach that relates to specific learning and training needs, or part of the learning design for a qualification.

It applies to individuals who are working in or with training and/or assessment organisations as an entry-level trainer, teacher, facilitator or assessor using a pre-defined training product, such as a training package or accredited course.

Module 3 – Delivering training provides the learner with the tools  to plan, organise and deliver group based training as well as training of individuals in the workplace using real work activities as the basis for learning.
 
This workshop provides the learner with the necessary skills to facilitate to groups by using various facilitation techniques.

This course is suitable for an  entry-level trainer, teacher or facilitator structuring a learning program developed by others in, or with, a training and assessment organisation.

It is also recommended for an employee, team leader or workplace supervisor responsible for guiding learning through work.

Module 4 - Plan, design and develop assessment provides the skills and knowledge required to design and develop assessment tools used to collect evidence, including their application in formative, summative and recognition of prior learning (RPL) assessment in a competency-based assessment system.  It also provides the required skills and knowledge to participate in an assessment validation process.

This course is suitable for individuals with assessment planning responsibilities where they are required to identify the components of assessment tools, analyse and interpret assessment tools, and develop assessment instruments (also known as assessment tasks) and assessment plans.

It is ideal for experienced practitioners responsible for the development and/or delivery of training and assessment products and services.

It is also recommended for assessors and workplace supervisors with assessment validation responsibilities participating in, but not necessarily leading, the process.
