Founded by M. Crist Fleming in 1956, TASIS The American School in Switzerland is a day and boarding school committed to creating global citizens through education, travel, and service. The oldest American boarding school in Europe, TASIS now welcomes approximately 700 students from around 60 nations in grades Pre-Kindergarten (beginning at age three) through Postgraduate each year. About 250 students between ages 12–19 reside on campus.

TASIS is a school built on a vision. Our vision grows from a passionate belief in the importance of a classical education and noble virtues, experienced in a setting of breath-taking beauty at the crossroads of European and Mediterranean civilization. Our nurturing, supportive community of students and scholars believes such an education is the surest path, the firmest foundation, upon which to build a life.

Thank you for your interest in working at TASIS. TASIS is a diverse collection of students, faculty, and staff from around the world, nestled on the beautiful Collina d’Oro ("Hill of Gold") above Lugano. We are a school committed to providing a safe and productive learning community. Our teachers are the heart of this mission and take on the challenge of educating and leading students inside and outside the classroom.

Accommodation

Most new faculty live in apartments rented from the school. Some are in student dormitories, some on the edge of campus, and some within a 5–10 minute walk. In return for the rent paid by faculty, the school provides furnishings, basic appliances, utilities, a home phone, and internet service. A weekly cleaning service is provided for the in-dormitory apartments.

When we had a teacher decide to take another job in mid-July, we were left with few options. Historically, it was a tough position to fill. Within 24 hours of posting the position on Schrole, we were able to offer a contract to a more-qualified educator.
