Shrewsbury International School Phnom Penh is a growing British international school for children aged 2 to 18, bringing together the heritage of one of England's great schools with the energy and opportunity of a young school in one of Southeast Asia's most exciting cities.

Our new 7.2-hectare Sen Sok campus opened in September 2026, bringing Early Years, Primary and Secondary together on one purpose-built, all-through campus.

The Shrewsbury Story

Our story begins in England in 1552, when Shrewsbury School was founded by Royal Charter.

For almost five centuries, Shrewsbury has combined academic ambition with a belief in developing the whole person. Among its former pupils is Charles Darwin, whose curiosity, independence of thought and willingness to question the world remain fitting qualities for a Shrewsbury education today.

Shrewsbury Phnom Penh is proudly part of this wider family of schools, alongside established Shrewsbury schools in the UK and Asia.

Our Approach to Education

At Shrewsbury, children are at the heart of every decision we make.

Our curriculum is rooted in the National Curriculum for England and develops towards IGCSE and A Level study in the Secondary School.

We want our pupils to acquire secure knowledge and strong academic foundations, but education at Shrewsbury extends well beyond examination results.

We want children to become curious thinkers, confident communicators and thoughtful young people who are willing to participate, contribute and challenge themselves.

We believe the business of learning should be serious fun.

In practice, this means classrooms where expectations are high but children enjoy learning; where excellent teaching sits alongside creativity and exploration; and where pupils are encouraged to ask questions, make connections, take intellectual risks and discover what they can do.

Our New Sen Sok Campus

Our new campus has been designed to give pupils and teachers the space and facilities to make ambitious learning possible.

Set across 7.2 hectares in Sen Sok, Phnom Penh, the campus includes specialist learning and creative spaces, science and technology facilities, a three-storey library, performance and music facilities, extensive sports provision and dedicated spaces supporting pupil wellbeing.

Facilities include:

• modern science and technology laboratories;

• specialist art, design and creative spaces;

• a three-storey library;

• a 600-seat theatre and black box performance space;

• music and recording facilities;

• an Olympic-standard swimming pool;

• a full-size football pitch and athletics facilities;

• dedicated Early Years and Primary learning environments;

• Sixth Form and collaborative learning spaces; and

• dedicated pastoral and wellbeing provision.

More important than the buildings, however, is what happens inside them.

We are building a school in which excellent teachers know their pupils well, relationships matter and children feel both supported and challenged.
