S. Anselm's School is a preparatory, co-educational, full-boarding and day school in Derbyshire. The school was founded in 1888 and first accepted girls in 1976. The school grounds are spread across 20 acres of Peak District countryside in the market town of Bakewell, which has a population of 4,000. The school motto translates from Latin as ‘To be, rather than to seem’.

Pupils are encouraged to be themselves, and are excited about learning and have a real thirst for knowledge. They thrive in the music and art rooms, on the games field and stage. Small class sizes ensure staff can plan their teaching to ensure every pupil is treated as an individual. Teaching staff simply want the best for all our pupils and will do all they can to help them achieve to the best of their own abilities.
At the very centre of S. Anselm’s values is creativity – whether through the individual or the community. Students travel to watch theatrical plays at Stratford, to play in national sports tournaments or sing in mass choral days.
