Raffles American School (RAS) is a learning community that empowers students to achieve their full academic and life potential. We offer an american curriculum for students in Prekindergarten through Grade 12 and have been in operation since 2012. We moved to our phenomenal new campus in July 2016. RAS is accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC), which certifies we are a trustworthy institution of learning, accredited to grant the RAS high school diploma, which is recognized worldwide for acceptance to university. RAS culminates in the US Advanced Placement (AP) Program.
RAS's 46 acre campus boasts a 50-seat planetarium, 750-seat theater, black-box theater, dance studios, climbing walls, gymnasium and fine/performing arts complexes, 25m and 50m swimming pools, tennis courts, baseball diamond, soccer pitches, stadium track, boarding facility, and state-of-the-art science laboratories and classroom spaces.

If teachers are in Malaysia for more than 6 months in a calendar year, the tax rate is usually around 15%. The tax rate is usually around 30% for teachers who are in Malaysia for less than 6 months in a calendar year. Teachers pay income tax.

Accommodation
The school assists teachers in finding teacher apartments. Teachers pay for their own rent. Hired teachers can apply to serve outside school hours as a resident assistant in our boarding facilities. In exchange for these duties, rent and utilities are paid by RAS.
