The Guangdong Technion Israel Institute of Technology Affiliated International School (GTAIS) was established in 2019. This co-educational day school is located on the GTIIT South Campus and currently serves students from pre-kindergarten to Grade 8. As the first international school of its kind in both Eastern and Western Guangdong Province, GTAIS not only enhances educational diversity in Shantou but also contributes to the city’s development as a provincial sub-center.
The school building covers approximately 3,600 square meters and is equipped with advanced information technology, a STEM center, and diverse indoor and outdoor sports facilities. It also includes music, art, and design classrooms.
One of the managing partners of GTAIS is International School Services (ISS), a leading organization that operates international schools in China and worldwide. To recruit teachers, we collaborate with ISS and other recruitment agencies. Since we are in our start-up phase, we currently have multi-grade classes for upper elementary and middle school, each with a designated homeroom teacher. These classes will transition to single grades as enrollment increases in the coming years. We also employ specialist teachers for physical education, art, and music. All our teachers hold teaching certificates in their subject areas and possess either a Bachelor's degree, a Master's degree, or higher.
GTAIS follows an American-style education program based on the US Common Core standards. Our students learn in an active environment that emphasizes character development, skill mastery, and cross-disciplinary conceptual understanding. We have developed a comprehensive curriculum that covers kindergarten, primary, and middle school, including subjects in STEM, Humanities (Reading, Writing, and History), Physical Education, Art, Music, and languages such as Chinese and Spanish. Additionally, our extracurricular courses include sports, art, and music activities such as fencing, singing, and dancing.
