Founded in 2007, YK Pao School has become one of China’s leading bilingual and international schools. In four of the last five years the school has been ranked as the top bilingual school in China by the Hurun report and in 2023 Forbes ranked us as the top international school in China. We now have just over 1600 students spread over our Primary (Y1-5), Middle (Y6-8) and High School (Y9-12) campuses. The School offers a unique Y1-12 educational programme that integrates the Chinese National Curriculum with international curricula which culminates with the IGCSE and IB Diploma Programme. The Primary School of some 600 students is located in Shanghai’s city centre whilst the Middle School of some 450 students is located in Hongqiao and includes a stunning new state of the art building whilst the High School provides UK/US style boarding for most of its 550 students in the attractive surroundings of Shanghai’s Songjiang district.

Number of Contract Days
First contract will be two years, renewable by mutual agreement. Working days are typically ~180.
Starting Salary Range
Annual salary (Gross, RMB): RMB 318,000-431,000.
Additional position allowances are available.
Further Degree ( Master's, Doctor's) obtained would count for one step up the scale.
The school pays salary in RMB on a monthly basis, from August of one year to July of the following year (one school year). The amount is confirmed according to the salary scale. Salary is quoted pre-tax.
Taxes
The monthly individual income tax (“IIT”) payment will be deducted from the monthly salary and be reported to the Chinese authorities by the School on the international faculty member’s behalf.

1. Pension
The international faculty member receives a pension contribution of 7.5% of the previous year's annual salary as retention reward for staff who renew for one year after the contract expires. (IIT will be deducted).
Begin of contract: We will reimburse a one way economy class ticket from the closest international airport to the teacher's permanent address to Shanghai.
Middle of contract: We will provide a standard airfare allowance of RMB 12,000 to the teacher and each eligible dependent above 12 years old, and RMB 9,000 per child of/under the age of 12.
End of contract: We will provide a one-way economy class ticket from Shanghai to the international airport nearest to the staff member’s permanent address.
Utilities
For expat teachers who live in acommodation provided by the School (on- or off-campus, the apartments are fully furnished and utilities are provided).
Furniture
For the international faculty member lives in the dorm provided by the School on campus or off campus, the apartments are fully furnished and utilities are provided.

Tuition Discount at YKPS
- We provide tuition benefit to up to 2 children.
- Each eligible child studying at YKPS receives 100% tuition fee discount.
- The tuition discount cannot be applied together with other tuition fee reduction nor with student scholarship at the same time.
- The tuition discount does not apply to any other fees, including, but not limited to: boarding fee, meals fee, school uniform fee, activities fee, etc.
Medical
International employees and their foreign-passport-holding dependants are provided with international medical insurance. Local passport holding dependants are provided with the same supplementary medical insurance as the School’s local staff.

- Direct billing from clinic/hospital to insurance company at clinic/hospitals within the insurer’s network
