Since 1965, The International School of Kuala Lumpur (ISKL) has been a center of excellence in international education.

Starting Salary Range
Salary range of $78,000 - $101,000 is pre-tax starting salary including tax benefit, housing benefit, transport assistance, and wellness benefit. Actual salary will vary depending on years of experience, educational level, and family size. All salary is paid in local currency, Malaysian Ringgit. The conversion is an approximation.
Option to denominate salary in 25% or 40% in USD, GBP, EUR, CAD, AUD, NZD, JPY, RMB (currency of Home of Record or where there is financial commitment).
Taxes
There is a graduated income tax scale, reaching up to a maximum of 25% on the first RM100,000, and 26% thereafter up to max of 30%. Employees receive a tax benefit equivalent to 10% of their base salary to defray local taxes.
Savings Potential
Employees can save between 30 - 50% of their monthly salary depending upon lifestyle choices.
Accommodation
A housing benefit is provided in addition to the base salary. The conversion below is an approximation based on the current exchange rate.
- Single: USD 15,443 per annum
- Head of Household plus one dependent: USD 19,729 per annum
- Head of Household plus two or more dependents: USD 21,234 per annum
Flights/Transport
A one-way economy airfare from the home of record to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, is provided for the employee and eligible dependents upon initial entry. Thereafter, a return economy airfare is provided each year of employment.
Moving Allowance
ISKL provides employees with a shipping benefit – sea freight calculated from the Home of Record. The shipping benefit allocated is as follows:
- Single employee: 4.75 cu m
- Head of household plus 1 dependant: 6.00 cu m
- Head of household plus 2 dependants: 7.25 cu m
- Head of household plus 3 or more dependants: 8.50 cu m
Dependent Opportunities
Tuition is provided for up to two school-age dependents per full-time employee.
Medical
International Health Insurance is provided for each full-time employee and dependents up to the age of 20 years, except in those cases where an employee’s spouse and/or children are already covered by a comparable insurance program as determined by ISKL Administration. Dependents over the age of 20 (subject to an age cap of 26 years old) can be added to the plan, provided that they are in full-time education and are unmarried.
Dental
Dental insurance is included in health insurance.
Disability
Long Term Disability is provided.
Retirement
The employee contributes a minimum of 11% of gross base salary and ISKL contributes 18% of gross base salary.
Bonus
Employees are eligible for a re-signing incentive upon renewal of their 2-year contracts. The incentive amounts are US$3,500 for signing the 3rd 2-yearcontract, US$5,000 for signing the 4th 2-year contract, US$2,000 for signing the 5th 2-year contract, and US$1,500 for signing the 6th 2-year contract.
