The first and only full, not-for-profit International Baccalaureate (IB) international school in Bangkok, Thailand, NIST International School was established in 1992 with the support of the United Nations. We now welcome over 1,700 students, representing more than 70 nationalities, and provide all three IB programmes. Our school is governed by the parent-elected NIST International School Foundation and is accredited through the Council of International Schools (CIS) and New England Association of Schools and Colleges (NEASC).

Recognized worldwide for its progressive approach, the IB programmes provide students with critical 21st century skills. The academic structure emphasizes exploration, risk-taking and trans-disciplinary learning. All students engage in extended service learning that encourages them to empathize with others and actively solve issues. We also partner with other top international schools in offering the Global Citizen Diploma, an optional qualification that allows graduates to showcase their strengths in leadership, service and community engagement. Our school maintains strong child protection policies and procedures, and we carefully screen all applicants by requiring a full, official background clearance, in turn providing a safe, secure environment for all students.

Most importantly, we believe in learning that will inspire, empower and enrich our lives and the lives of others.

Number of Contract Days

Savings Potential

Bangkok and Thailand are relatively inexpensive compared to other world cities, and a NIST salary provides the ability to live as simply or comfortably as desired.

We provide a monthly housing allowance between THB 42,800 to 64,200 for overseas hires based on dependent status. Additionally, upon arrival in Thailand, up to five nights of accommodation are provided in a hotel close to the school.

Airfare is provided for teachers and their dependents upon appointment, as well as return tickets after the completion of the initial two-year contract. Annual round-trip flights are provided thereafter.

Moving Allowance

A settling-in allowance of THB 50,000, subject to taxation, is provided for all overseas hires.

Comprehensive health insurance is provided for all eligible staff and their dependents, and it applies worldwide. (Please note that the conditions may vary slightly for citizens of the United States.) The school also self-insures annual medical checkups and maternity benefits.

Dental coverage up to THB 20,000 per year is provided in the form of reimbursements by the school.
