Founded in Brussels in 1951, The International School of Brussels (ISB) is a private international school for students from Preschool to Grade 12. Our international student community includes 1300+ students from 60+ different countries, making our campus a culturally rich space that facilitates learning from and with people from all over the world. Number of Contract Days
There are 177 teaching days in addition to 4 professional development days held on campus.
Taxes
average of 40% + personal social security charges of 13.07%.
Accommodation
ISB only provides accommodation for interns. However, a monthly non-taxable home office allowance is paid to faculty.
Flights/Transport
ISB pays for the inbound flight for the new hire and their dependents from point of origin at the start of the contract as well as the outbound flight at the end of the contract.
Utilities
ISB does not cover the cost of utilities, other than an internet connection at home.
Moving Allowance
ISB pays for international removal costs up to a certain limit:
- 2500€ for international moves
- 2100€ for moves within the EU
An additional amount of 420€ is accorded per dependent.
The removal is billed directly to ISB to avoid teachers having to fund the cost if they accept the ISB recommended supplier.
Medical
ISB offers an extended medical coverage that includes hospitalization coverage, and supplementary medical/optical/dental insurance beyond the generous Belgian State system. . Hospitalization insurance is extended to spouse and children.
Disability
There is also a disability cover that guarantees 70% of income to retirement age in case of a serious accident or illness.

Commuting allowance - ISB provides an annual public transport subscription
Retirement
Supplementary pension scheme, defined contribution type, 5% of gross salary increasing to 10% after three years.
