About: Universal American School

Founded in 2005 and nestled in the vibrant heart of Dubai Festival City, Universal American School (UAS) is a not-for-profit international school that has built a strong reputation for nurturing confident, compassionate, and globally minded learners. Serving a diverse community of students from around the world, UAS blends American and international educational best practices with a strong emphasis on inquiry-based, student-centered learning. The school’s curriculum is anchored in the New York State Standards and offers three graduation pathways: the IB Diploma Programme, Advanced Placement (AP), and the American High School Diploma, allowing students to tailor their learning experience to their individual strengths and aspirations.

What sets UAS apart is its commitment to a culture of care, purpose, and authenticity. Small class sizes and a welcoming school culture ensure that every student is known, valued, and supported to achieve their personal best. Teachers join a collaborative and forward-thinking community where professional growth is nurtured, and student voice and agency are prioritised. With the support of the Al Futtaim Education Foundation, UAS continues to invest in innovative practices and world-class resources, offering educators a meaningful and dynamic environment to teach, grow, and make a real impact.

Ethos: Universal American School

At Universal American School, education goes beyond academics – it’s about developing the whole child and empowering students to become the best version of themselves. The school’s mission – to nurture an internationally minded community of integrity and academic excellence – is not just words on paper; it’s the heartbeat of everything they do. Teachers and leaders are united by a shared commitment to fostering critical thinking, empathy, and responsibility in students, guiding them to become confident individuals who understand their place in the world and the power they have to shape it.

UAS is a values-driven school that places equal emphasis on character development and academic achievement. The school’s four core values – Respect, Integrity, Collaboration, and Excellence – are visible in every classroom, hallway, and community gathering. These values also underpin the professional culture, where educators are encouraged to innovate, reflect, and collaborate with one another to continually improve practice. There is a tangible sense of community at UAS, one that celebrates diverse perspectives, supports well-being, and fosters lifelong connections. For educators, it’s a place where passion for teaching meets purpose, and where every member of the team plays a vital role in helping students thrive.

The UAS campus is as dynamic as the learning that takes place within it. Spread across 70,000 square metres in family-friendly Dubai Festival City, the school is home to a blend of state-of-the-art academic, creative, and athletic facilities that support a well-rounded and immersive education. Creative pursuits are supported by fully equipped art and ceramics studios, a black box theatre, a recording studio, podcasting and radio facilities, and a vibrant performing arts centre.

Athletics and wellness are also central to life at UAS. Students have access to a multi-sport gymnasium, a full-sized track and football field, a 25-metre swimming pool, and extensive outdoor play areas. The newly built cafeteria and community café provide gathering spaces that reflect the school’s warm and inclusive culture. Staff are also supported through purpose-built professional development spaces and a dedicated teacher wellness room. These thoughtfully designed facilities create an inspiring environment that encourages creativity, innovation, and connection—for students and staff alike.
