About: The KAUST School (TKS)

Located on the shores of the Red Sea, The KAUST School (TKS) supports the thriving community of King Abdullah University of Science & Technology (KAUST).

TKS is an independent not-for-profit IB World School that offers the Primary Years Program, Middle Years Program, and Diploma Program of the International Baccalaureate.

Graduates earn an American High School Diploma, accredited by MSA (Middle States Association). TKS offers an International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma in addition to the TKS Graduation Diploma, for qualified candidates.

Parents in the TKS community are invited to actively involved in their child’s learning, and support its family through presentations, back to school nights, student-led conferences, and student activities. As parents, you are your child’s first teacher.

TKS teachers and staff come from many different countries and are truly representative of its exceptionally diverse community. TKS educators annually engage in deep professional learning that allows them to continue to grow professionally, resulting in more opportunities for students to grow and learn.

TKS offers a world-renowned international curriculum. TKS has been specifically designed for an international student body. TKS has chosen the International Baccalaureate (IB), a curriculum that is the most respected and widely followed academic program in the international school world.

The IB truly prepares students for the best international universities and is well suited to globally mobile international students and tomorrow’s global citizens. This means that when TKS students leave, at whatever point in their KG, Elementary or Secondary education, they’ll be ready for whatever step they want to take next, anywhere in the world.

Facilities: The KAUST School (TKS)

The youngest of students (ages 3-5) at The KAUST School (TKS) are fortunate to learn on a dedicated Kindergarten campus in the Harbor area inspired by play-based learning. Through investigation and research, students are able to contemplate deep questions, but always in ways that bring true joy to their learning process.

TKS Elementary, Middle and High Schools are all located in the Garden District of the KAUST community. Supported by an amazing teaching team, the environment provides a balanced and innovative approach to teaching and learning with technology-equipped classrooms, science laboratories, a design and technology hub, libraries and world-class facilities for work and play.

From competitive sports to performing arts and student government initiatives, TKS’s wealth of co-curricular activities provide the perfect complement to its academic curriculum.

 

Location: The KAUST School (TKS)

The KAUST School (TKS) is located in Thuwal, Western Province, Saudi Arabia. The town is home to the King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST), a world-class institution, providing a stimulating intellectual environment for expats and their families. The community is diverse and cosmopolitan, fostering cultural exchange and global perspectives.

Thuwal’s strategic location along the Red Sea coast allows for breathtaking views and access to pristine beaches, making it an ideal place for relaxation and outdoor activities. The modern infrastructure, including state-of-the-art facilities and amenities, ensures a comfortable lifestyle.

Benefits: The KAUST School (TKS)

Number of Contract Days: 180

Starting Salary Range: Basic USD55,000 p.a.

Taxes: No taxes applied to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (Faculty is advised to check their individual eligibility with their home country authorities)

Savings Potential: Savings Plan with matched employer contribution up to 10% of base salary. Over Base Allowance, up to 50% of base pay paid monthly to each single teacher, or to highest-paid member of teaching couple.

Accommodation: Housing in the KAUST community for which rent will be charged according to a schedule established by KAUST. Plus, complimentary broad-band internet; no charge for utilities (if within benchmark limit); subsidised annual rent to be paid by the employee, deducted from the salary (subject to change, rent will not exceed 25% of base salary of the house teachers are eligible for, if a teacher chooses to upgrade to bigger house, then full rent applies.

Flights/Transport: Reimbursement for one economy class return ticket provided for dependent child(ren) enrolled as a full-time student in an undergraduate college or university program, to visit parents at KAUST twice per school year (subject to capped amount, determined by country).

Utilities: Included.

Furniture: Included.

Moving Allowance: 15% of annual base salary, a fixed one-time payment per family (in case of a teaching couple, this is calculated using the base salary of the highest earner), This is to cover cost of visa application, medical examination, degree attestation, storage cost, etc.

Medical: Full local coverage for employee and dependents (Global Plan available upon enrollment with subsidised rates).

Disability: Short and Long-Term Disability Insurance. Basic Life and Accidental Death & Dismemberment Insurance provided. Additional optional coverage available for employees, spouses and dependents at reasonable rates.

Pension: 10% of base salary (3 full years of vesting rule applies)
