About: Lanna International School

Lanna International School, Thailand is one of the largest and longest established international schools in Chiang Mai. It was founded in 1993 to serve all families in the Thai and international communities of Chiang Mai by providing quality education in a coeducational, non-sectarian English-medium international school setting.

Lanna delivers a British style education based on the National Curriculum of England and Wales, adapted to more fully meet the needs of our environment and our school population of students from Early Years to Year 13.  Within its Early Years department, Lanna uses the International Early Years Curriuclum (IEYC) and Reggio Emilia inspired pedagody to meet the needs of its learners. In Primary, Lanna use sthe Cambridge Curriculum (CC) and International Primary Curriculum (IPC) which is child-centred, inquiry based learning inspiring our children to be life-long learners.

Lanna is accredited by Western Association of Schools and College (WASC), licensed by the Thai Ministry of Education, is a member of the East Asia Regional Council of Overseas Schools (EARCOS), and since 2005 has been a Cambridge University International Examination Centre.

 

Ethos: Lanna International School

From its beginning, Lanna International School has encouraged applications from students of diverse cultural, academic and linguistic backgrounds, and welcomes students from around forty different nationalities, speaking seventeen languages. Emphasising internationalism at its very essence, Lanna believes that the diversity of its student body is one of its greatest strengths and helps to support the school’s mission to prepare its students to be responsible world citizens.

Lanna believes that its student-centred programme of study and extensive range of After School Activities (ASAs) provide students with the challenges that enable them to reach their full potential academically, socially, emotionally and physically.

Lanna seeks to instil in its students tolerance, dignity and respect for others. Lanna strives to ensure that students act both responsibly and independently whether at school or in the community outside. Educating over 800 students, Lanna is a supportive and caring environment for all, where no challenge is too big, and no dream is beyond arm’s reach.

 

Facilities: Lanna International School

Early Years Campus: Opened in 2019, the campus has dedicated indoor and outdoor learning spaces that instil a love of learning in students and encourages curiosity and student-centred learning. The facility includes modern teaching classrooms, a space for specialist classes and an assembly space, as well as a play area and dining facility, designed especially for its youngest learners.

Primary School Campus: Opened in 2018, the three-storey buildings contain specially designed spaces for Music, Drama and STEAM lessons. The Primary Library is a purpose built and designed space that is spacious and flexible. Moveable shelving means that furniture can be moved to adapt to different situations, and the book stock is professionally selected to support learning, reflect students’ interests and embed a culture of Reading for Pleasure. Several playgrounds and green areas surround the buildings.

Secondary Campus: The newly constructed campus enjoys custom built classrooms for Science, STEAM, Drama, Art and all other subjects; a black-box theatre; dedicated art and music rooms; music practice rooms; and STEAM and chemistry labs, equipped with the latest technology to foster exploration and discovery.

Campus wide facilities include a chemical-free designed swimming pool; splash pool; indoor airconditioned gymnasium; outdoor futsal pitch; outdoor basketball court; assembly hall; and dedicated art and performing arts rooms.

Number of Contract Days: 181 teaching days plus up to two weeks non-teaching days for in-service work (this is very much the maximum).

Flights/Transport: Inbound flight at the beginning of the contract, Outbound flight at the end of the contract. Annual flight home.
