Ethos: High Teach Academy (HTA)
Vision: Enhance student potential to improve the world.
Mission: Nurture next generations of lifelong learners to work together in solving complex challenges.
High Tech Academy is an innovative school, with elements of the International Curriculum, American Curriculum, and the Project Based Learning (PBL) instructional approach. PBL is a teaching method in which students learn by actively engaging in real-world and personally meaningful projects.
HTA believes that high quality learning and teaching is a collective journey of discovery. A journey that creates agency, respects cultures, the rights and wellbeing of children and leads to active citizens who equitably engage with their local and global communities. Individual growth and social emotional intelligence are paramount to HTA’s process of learning and teaching as children plan and set goals, develop a growth mindset, inquire, think critically and creatively, reflect, and engage in meta-cognition and innovation.
Facilities: High Teach Academy (HTA)
Under the guidance of Jani Ristimäki from Parviainen Architects, renowned for their expertise in educational architecture, HTA was meticulously crafted to showcase its picturesque, sunlit setting atop a 1,000-meter-high slope.
This environmentally conscious and earthquake-resilient structure, brimming with abundant natural light, comprises five interconnected blocks nestled around a spacious atrium. These encompass a preschool, elementary, middle, and high school, alongside a dedicated sports and arts centre.
Offering a blend of group instruction and individual study spaces, as well as leisure, sports, and arts amenities, the school boasts specialised areas such as the Fablab, equipped with an extensive array of tools including woodworking machinery, 3D printers, and power tools. Further enhancing the learning environment are state-of-the-art chemistry, physics, and biology laboratories furnished with cutting-edge equipment from esteemed German manufacturer Waldner, ensuring safety and functionality.
Each classroom is outfitted with switch cabinets empowering teachers to regulate gas, water, or electricity for individual students, akin to setups found in leading European technical universities. Additionally, all laboratories are equipped with reliable safety apparatus and ample storage for chemicals. Complementing these academic spaces are two music rooms, a home economics studio, a well-stocked library, a concert hall, administrative offices, and dedicated areas for medical and counselling services. Outdoors, students can enjoy a sports field for recreational activities.
