About: British International School, Phuket (BISP)

Founded in 1996, British International School, Phuket (BISP) provides education for over 900 day and boarding students from approximately 60 different nationalities, with its alumni graduating from many top universities from around the world.

BISP aims to maximise student potential by delivering the highest standards of teaching and learning to an international community, emphasising wellbeing and passion, on a green, well-equipped campus. The staff turnover each year is low (typically around 10%) and the average length of stay exceeds seven years.

In 2010, BISP received the Thailand Prime Minister’s Export Award for the ‘Best Service Provider in International Education’. In the same year, the World Education and Kidscovery Expo recognised BISP for ‘Outstanding Facilities and Curriculum Development’.

Over the last decade, BISP has strengthened its position as a quality international school, by initiating scholarship programmes and extending opportunities in the Arts and in Sport, thereby creating a truly holistic educational experience for the students. It has also established a reputation as one of the best sports competition venues in the region.

BISP maintains an extensive continuing professional education programme for its academic staff. The range of training covers the whole spectrum of school life, from subject specialist courses for the IB Diploma and Job-alike Workshops, to Life Saving, First Aid certifications and Fire safety training.

Ethos: British International School, Phuket (BISP)

The educational philosophy of the British International School, Phuket (BISP) is uniquely founded upon the model of a Triple Helix, where each of the three strands (Learning, Wellbeing and Passion) is identified as being interdependent and essential components of a balanced and productive life.

Learning at BISP is ‘holistic’, in that it cultivates the social, emotional, physical, and cognitive dimensions of the developing child.

While schools organise learning in ‘academic’ and ‘enrichment’ programmes, BISP does not limit learning to within the walls of any particular classroom or within the boundaries of any particular ‘subject’.

BISP understands that learning happens everywhere at any time. BISP’s model for holistic learning aims to develop the whole child, and to instill a lifelong love of learning through active engagement.
