About: Aoba-Japan International School (A-JIS)
Aoba International School (A-JIS), founded in 1976, earned accreditation with CIS and NEASC in 1997. In 1998 it merged with Japan International School. In the autumn of 2011, A-JIS extended its secondary section to include Grades 9 to 12. In 2013, Business Breakthrough (BBT) acquired A-JIS with a vision for lifelong learning from kindergarten to post-graduate university and beyond.
As an IB Continuum World School, A-JIS aims to develop global leaders to make positive changes to the world. Supported by its school community, as well as business and university partners, A-JIS encourages an entrepreneurial spirit, innovation and social responsibility as the pillars of its decisions and actions.

In the summer of 2012, Aoba-Japan International School moved to its present location in Hikarigaoka in order to achieve another long-sought vision – the acquisition of a full-service school facility and campus.
Beyond the multi-level standard school building, the new campus provides a full-size soccer pitch, a gymnasium, a pool, playground, parking, and more. Aoba has the location, campus, and facilities that allow it to pursue its mandate of educational excellence as we move further into the 21st century.
