We are seeking to appoint an experienced whole school teacher librarian to support inquiry based learning at the International School of Siena, Italy in August 2024. Applicants must have experience of teaching IB PYP or MYP or a strong background in concept and inquiry based teaching and learning as well as suitable qualifications and experience as a librarian.
The successful applicant will be a dynamic teacher with experience of enabling students to achieve their potential. We are looking for experience, enthusiasm and a passion for teaching and librarianship, to inspire our students with a love of learning. They need to be a team player that can work within a small but busy school, collaborating with teachers to support units of study through the provision of inquiry resources and leading the teaching and mapping of Approaches to Learning Skills across the school as well as the Extended Essay in the DP.
This is an opportunity to make a significant contribution to the development of our school. This is a 50% library role which could be combined with the another role.
Key responsibilities:
Supporting a positive and strong school community through the implementation of the IS Siena
Positive Behaviour Policy and the pastoral programme.
Supporting inquiry based teaching and learning through the PYP/MYP/DP.
Creating spaces and opportunities for research, individual and collaborative learning.
Delivering the skills necessary for successful completion of the Extended essay process for Grades 12 & 13.
Working closely with the Programme Coordinators and Middle Leadership to ensure that Approaches to Learning skills are being successfully mapped and taught.
Contributing to school development through active participation in staff professional development.
Offering an Extra Curricular activity that supports or extends the current portfolio of offerings.
The ideal candidate will have:
to be in possession of a university degree in a related subject an appropriate teaching qualification and a librarian qualification;
to have had recent experience successfully teaching within the 5-18 age range;
to be enthusiastic and passionate, showing a love of education and libraries, and having the ability to convey this successfully to students of all abilities;
Understanding of Approaches to Teaching and Learning skills and data tracking to improve challenge and progress desirable;
Experience with IB pedagogy/inquiry and concept based learning is essential;
A firm understanding of the importance of personalised learning learning in an inclusive environment;
Someone who is willing to commit to a longer term position. We would initially offer a 12 month contract with the view to offer permanent after this time for longevity.
