Job Description
Him Lam International School Bac Ninh is searching for a dedicated and experienced Secondary/High School Science teacher to join our team. As a Science teacher, you will be required to deliver lessons that develop students' theoretical and applied scientific skills. You will also be responsible for assigning homework, grading assignments and quizzes, and documenting students' progress.
To improve the quality of learning outcomes for students by providing teaching and learning ‘best practices’ within the framework of the school’s Mission, Vision, Core Values, Learning Principles and Learner Sphere, Culture, and the appropriate national and international programmes.
To be successful as a Science teacher, you should possess a thorough understanding of effective teaching practices. Our ideal candidate will be able to create a stimulating learning environment that is sensitive to students' psychosocial needs.
I. Duties
● Plan, organise, and provide instruction that are aligned with the Cambridge curriculum and school standards to meet the varied learning styles, abilities, and needs of students.
● Develop and deliver lesson plans that utilise a broad range of appropriate teaching techniques and strategies to differentiate for the individual student's success.
● Provide individual and small-group instruction to adapt the curriculum to the needs of students with varying intellectual and science abilities, and to accommodate a variety of instructional activities.
● Guide students in the proper care and use of tools and equipment.
● Ensure that the general environment within the Science labs is in keeping with Health and Safety procedures and that the furniture requirements and general environment are kept in good order, reporting any concerns to the person in charge of premises and facilities.
● Address all aspects of communication through appropriate instruction that develops each student’s knowledge and abilities in appropriate grade levels and subjects.
● Administer academic assessments for the purpose of evaluating student progress in meeting academic learning targets and progress in knowledge acquisition; and prepare the necessary written and oral progress reports to relevant stakeholders.
● Observe and evaluate student wellbeing, as a subject teacher and homeroom teacher, to promote and support their personal and social development.
● Establish and maintain standards of student behaviour required to run an orderly and productive classroom environment
● Maintain constant awareness of the needs of any children to whom English is another language.
● Ensure that lesson plans are adapted to ensure differentiation for students who have additional needs.
● Collaborate with other teachers to share new ideas, approaches and professional knowledge.
● Ensure regular collaboration with SEN and EAL to ensure a holistic approach is followed regarding students of varying developmental levels.
● Check the attendance of students at lessons and follow up on what they are doing as well as on the quality of class work, homework and any other coursework.
● Maintain up-to-date records and forward lesson plans for approval to the Head of International Programme under the guidance and with approval from the School Director.
● Maintain accurate and professional communication with parents, ensuring parents are updated with children's status and progress. Keep parent communication platforms updated per requirements set at the beginning of the year. Add additional information as per request.
● Participate in curriculum, homeroom, extra-curricular and other developmental programmes.
● Participate in school activities such as Open Day, Admissions Day, After School Activities, PD training or Parent-Teacher Conferences.
● Oversee assigned out-of-classroom activities during the school day, as needed.
● Maintain cordial relations and communication with other school staff members.
● Ensure effective utilisation of resources, materials, and equipment.
● Other tasks as assigned by the Head of the International Programme as director line manager or the School Director.
II. Requirement
1. Education
● Bachelor/Master's degree in Science, Combined Science or Biology, Chemistry and Physics.
● Recognised teaching certificate/license in subject
2. Experience
● Minimum of 3 years of teaching experience in similar position in an international or bilingual school setting
● Previous experience with the Cambridge Science curriculum is desirable
3. Skills & Knowledge
● Native level of English
● Creativity/flexibility/adaptability/enthusiasm for teaching diverse learners from different cultural backgrounds/languages/abilities/interests/personalities
● Ability to use technology effectively in teaching and learning including online learning management system, online collaboration tools or online assessment tools

Accommodation
On a monthly basis, the company will provide a housing allowance for expats. School will pay the amount shown from the contract provided by expats. The employee can rent a house higher than the above quota (16 million VND). In that case, he/she will pay for the difference between the actual arising and the quota.
During the process of searching for accommodation, the school buddy, and HR, are willing to assist teacher in considering different options with the collaboration of local realtors.
Flights/Transport
- For Relocation/Job Acceptance: the company will purchase One-way ticket (Economy class) at the beginning of contract from current residence.
- After every one full year: the company will purchase a Round ticket (Economy class) to home of record or other country*
- This benefit is not applied for spouse or dependants.
*ticket price is equal or less than the ones to home of record.
Moving Allowance
The company will pay a maximum amount of 23,000,000 VND based on actual arising needs. Cost of shipping fees usually cover expenses at the airport (overweight luggage, tape, etc.) or cost of shipping pets or special belongings. To reimburse, the employee needs to send a scanned copy of the entire invoice for the paid amounts to the C&B department once they arrive in Vietnam. Do note, you must make a Customs Declaration upon landing at Noi Bai airport Arrivals Hall for any incoming shipping.
Dependent Opportunities
Tuition Fees and admission fees will be waived for two legal dependants of school age of an expatriate Employee enrolled at Him Lam International School. All other expenses related to the attendance of school, including but not limited to meals, excursions, transport, uniform will be borne by the Employee.
Medical
All expatriate employees will be provided private health insurance from Liberty Insurance Company during their employment at HIMLAMIS. Please be noted that the health insurance company needs the results from the medical check-up and assessment of the medical check-up to be done by the underwriting department of the insurer. There will be a grace period of 30 days where the insured person is still not covered by the health insurance. (ask HR directly for further details).
