Job Summary:
The Elementary Social Studies & Language Arts Teacher at Ruamrudee International School Phuket is responsible for delivering high-quality, engaging lessons in both social studies and language arts to Grade 1-3 students. This role involves fostering students' understanding of history, geography, and cultures, while also building their literacy skills in reading, writing, and communication. The teacher will create a dynamic and inclusive classroom environment, assess student progress, and contribute to the development of both the social studies and language arts curricula. Optional homeroom responsibilities may include acting as the primary point of contact for students and parents, supporting their social and emotional well-being, and collaborating with colleagues to ensure a cohesive school experience.
Key Responsibilities:
Social Studies Instruction:
● Develop and implement engaging, age-appropriate social studies lessons for
students in Grade 1-3.
● Foster an understanding of history, geography, and societal structures.
● Facilitate discussions and activities that encourage critical thinking and global
awareness.
Language Arts Instruction:
● Develop and implement dynamic language arts lessons that foster a love for reading,
writing, and effective communication.
● Support the development of students' literacy skills through creative and engaging
reading and writing activities.
Curriculum Development:
● Contribute to the development and enhancement of both the social studies and
language arts curricula.
● Ensure alignment of lessons with curriculum standards and learning objectives.
Assessment:
● Design and administer assessments to evaluate students’ understanding of social
studies and language arts concepts.
● Provide constructive feedback to students and parents to support their academic
growth.
Classroom Management:
● Create and maintain a positive and inclusive learning environment.
● Implement effective classroom management strategies that foster student
engagement and mutual respect.
Technology Integration:
● Integrate technology into both social studies and language arts lessons to enhance
learning experiences.
● Stay informed about trends in educational technology to support instructional
practices.
Professional Development:
● Participate in ongoing professional development opportunities to stay current with
best practices in both social studies and language arts education.
● Continuously improve teaching methods based on new research and pedagogical
strategies.
Homeroom Responsibilities (Optional, if selected):
● Act as the primary point of contact for homeroom students and their parents.
● Monitor and support the social and emotional well-being of homeroom students.
● Conduct regular homeroom meetings to address concerns and provide guidance.
● Collaborate with other teachers and staff to ensure a cohesive and supportive school
environment.
● Participate in parent-teacher conferences and provide updates on homeroom
students’ progress.
Qualifications:
● Bachelor’s degree in Education, Social Studies, English, or a related field.
● Teaching certification/license.
● Previous experience teaching elementary students, particularly in social studies and
language arts.
● Strong knowledge of elementary social studies and language arts curriculum
standards.
● Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
● Proficiency with educational technology.

Starting Salary Range
$36574 for teachers with a BA+Certificate and 4 years experience (can fluctuate based on currency exchange).
Taxes
15-25% is deducted from the salary for taxes. The taxes are not paid by the school.
Accommodation
Each newly recruited expatriate teacher from overseas who signs an initial two-year contract receives accommodation for five nights, arranged by the school. Additionally, a housing allowance of 25,000 baht per month is provided to each expatriate teacher in addition to the salary. Faculty couples will receive 40,000 baht per couple/month. All gross salary is subject to the Thai Personal Income Tax Law.
Flights/Transport
An annual family home leave allowance for full-time expat teachers who are contracted with the school in the subsequent year and immediate family members (least expensive and most direct route, economy-class round trip to the nearest major international airport of individual teacher's declared home city of record).
Moving Allowance
One-way economy class incoming air tickets for self and resident dependents (non-working spouse and children under the age of 20 or who are students enrolled at school) are provided by the school. A one-time relocation allowance of 30,000 Baht is given in addition to the salary.
Medical
Health insurance covered in the host country for self and a maximum of two resident dependents (a spouse not over 65 years of age, or a child, unmarried, under the age of 18 or under the age of 23 if he/she is, at present, a full-time student). An annual health check-up for self and resident dependents who join the school's medical insurance is provided.
Retirement
Payroll savings plan (Provident Fund)
10-15% of the monthly base salary can be deposited with the school's Provident Fund. The school will match this 10% monthly. The 'Provident Fund' year starts from the date of joining the Provident Fund, not from the date of employment at RIS. A fund member of 3 years will receive 50% of school contribution and earnings. A fund member of 5 years will receive 100% of school contribution and earnings.
