OVERVIEW OF THE POSITION
Teachers play a fundamental role in shaping the academic, intellectual, and social development of their students. Teachers are responsible for creating a positive and engaging learning environment, fostering a love for learning, and ensuring that each student reaches their full potential. A passion for education, creativity, and dedication to student success will be the driving force behind creating a stimulating and supportive classroom atmosphere.
QUALIFICATIONS
• Bachelor’s degree in education or related field (master’s degree preferred).
• Teaching certification/license in the relevant subject or grade level band.
• Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
• Patience, flexibility, and a passion for educating and inspiring students.
• Ability to adapt to diverse student needs and learning styles.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Overall Responsibilities
• Encourage high standards in all aspects of school life, particularly in student progress.
• Contribute to the effective and efficient running of the school.
• Promote a school culture which is positive, purposeful, and professional.
• Support and motivate students, teachers, and other school employees.
• Encourage consultation, review, and improvement.

Curriculum Development
• Design and implement an effective and engaging curriculum that aligns with the school's educational standards and objectives.
• Plan and prepare well-structured, clearly presented units and attendant lessons appropriate to the abilities of all students and the curriculum being taught.
• Develop unit / lesson plans, instructional materials, and assessments that cater to diverse learning styles and abilities.
• Continuously update and improve teaching methods and materials based on student performance and feedback.
• Participate in collaborative curriculum planning meetings to ensure vertical alignment of the educational standards.

Classroom Management
• Create a classroom environment that is welcoming and stimulating to effectively facilitate learning.
• Maintain a well-organized and conducive classroom environment that promotes positive learning experiences.
• Establish clear and consistent rules and expectations, ensuring a respectful and inclusive classroom atmosphere.
• Manage student behavior effectively, employing appropriate disciplinary measures when necessary while promoting a positive approach to discipline.
• Promote high standards of behavior by encouraging a positive, proactive approach to learning and build productive relationships with students.
• Promote high standards of organization; model this expectation in your own behavior.
• Promote high standards in the use of English as the common language and help develop English for academic pursuits.

Instruction and Delivery
• Teach a maximum of 6 of 8 blocks in and A/B cycle (MSHS); Teach a maximum of 25 of 35 class periods / week (ES)
• Deliver high-quality, engaging, and interactive lessons that actively engage students and encourage active participation.
• Generate enthusiasm for the subject being taught and inspire all students to work to their potential.
• Utilize various teaching methods, technology, and multimedia resources to enhance the learning experience.
• Scaffold lessons appropriately to allow students of all ability levels to access the curriculum.
• Provide individualized support to students who require extra help, addressing their specific needs and challenges.
• Maintain materials and resources as needed.
• Help students develop skills in line with school’s values and mission.
• Set homework according to policy and pertinent to the student’s ability and wider workload.

Assessment and Feedback
• Create varied and authentic assessments that target the skills and content of the unit.
• Develop and administer regular assessments to evaluate student understanding and progress.
• Provide multiple avenues for students to demonstrate their achievement of the adopted learning standards.
• Provide timely and constructive feedback to students, highlighting areas of improvement and celebrating their achievements.
• Collaborate with colleagues to analyze assessment data and implement strategies to enhance student performance.

Parent and Stakeholder Communication
• Maintain open and transparent communication with parents and guardians, providing regular updates on student progress and addressing any concerns; offer recommendations for increased support.
• Provide high-quality, accurate, constructive, and targeted information to parents through regular communication channels, reporting on student progress regularly throughout each quarter.
• Participate in parent-teacher conferences, meetings, and school events to foster a strong school-home partnership.
• Assess, record, and monitor the progress of all students according to faculty guidelines in order to provide accurate information to parents in a variety of forms, as and when necessary.

Professional Development
• Stay updated with the latest educational trends, teaching techniques, and research to enhance teaching skills and knowledge.
• Participate in professional development workshops, seminars, and training sessions to continuously improve teaching practices.

Collaboration and Teamwork
• Collaborate effectively with colleagues, sharing resources, ideas, and best practices to create a supportive professional community.
• Work closely with other staff members, such as counselors and special education teachers, to support the holistic development of students.
• Liaise with the Head of Department and Learning Support where a student may have special educational needs.

School and Community Involvement
• Actively participate in school committees, extracurricular activities, and community events to contribute to the overall school environment and school improvement.
• Participate in school / community events such as fundraisers, talent shows, and field trips.
• Represent the school positively in the community, fostering a strong connection between the school, students, and the broader community.

(10 personal/sick days paid per academic year; unused days are paid out at 100 usd/ net per day (annually with June salary))

initial one-way incoming flight summer 2024 (up to 1100usd reimbursed); reimbursed upon arrival and within 72 hours of invoices /boarding pass being submitted

Medical

International health insurance per all faculty and dependents. Direct billing network worldwide except for US and Canada [no copay, no deductible, MHD];

Retirement

Severance pay equal to 1/2 month salary per academic year worked upon your departure from the school. (ie: if you work for 4 academic years, you will receive an additional 2 months of salary upon departure) in accordance with Vietnamese Labor Law.
