Job Purpose: The candidate will engage and promote the interests of the 21st-century learner by teaching World Languages in the American High School Section [ages 14-17] at Modern English School Cairo. The World Languages teacher will work to create and enhance a culture of achievement and respect where high expectations and results are the norm. Using a variety of teaching strategies and classroom management techniques that are appropriate to the developmental needs of the adolescent. The instructor is responsible for teaching and reinforcing reading and language skills as well as cultivating an environment where historic study can be directly linked to the present day in an authentic and creative manner.
Qualifications: Candidates should demonstrate knowledge of research findings and recent trends in the education of students in grades 7-12 in World Languages. The ability to develop and maintain cooperative relationships within the American and British Section departments to cultivate a collaborative relationship fostering the sharing of ideas, pedagogy, and implementation of best practices. The candidate should have excellent organizational skills and the ability to motivate others. Must have at least 3 years of teaching experience.

Teachers receive a housing contribution which is paid monthly. Many teachers choose to supplement their housing allowance, depending on their chosen location and style of housing. Teaching couples each receive their own housing allowance as individuals. Teachers rent apartments independently of the school but our accommodation team offers ample assistance to new recruits, including a website of available options.
Flights/Transport
Economy class tickets are provided for the teacher’s arrival to Cairo at the beginning of the contract. For returning staff, a set allowance for a round trip ticket to the nominated ‘home’ destination (as per contract) is provided during the summer break, for non-returning staff a set allowance for a one way ticket is provided. The allowance is based on the average prices of a round trip ticket to various airports in the country of origin.
Moving Allowance
Staff that are new to Cairo are entitled to a nominal settling in allowance upon their first arrival in Cairo; some local currency cash for incidentals
