Early Years Learning Support Teacher
Job/Position Summary
The Learning Support Teacher (LST) must have an understanding of how to support and facilitate learning for students with complex learning profiles. This may include students who are English language learners, as well as students with additional learning needs.
The LST will directly support a caseload of students and provide direct instruction. S/he adheres to The KAUST School’s mission, policies, and beliefs; among those beliefs is foremost that all children enrolled at TKS are fully participating members of the learning community.
The teacher needs to have a clear understanding of specific learning profiles to be successful within an inclusive context by working closely with teachers to adapt curriculum design, implement, evaluate and record support interventions.
*Experience working with intensive needs students preferable
Major Responsibilities
● The Learning Support Teacher is responsible for:
● Working collaboratively and in consultation with teachers to adapt learning opportunities for identified students.
● Teaching and co-teaching in collaboration with teachers.
● Gathering data in order to gain information about student development and progress and using this information to inform teaching and learning.
● Case managing students with identified needs planning, goal setting and developing, implementing and evaluating interventions.
● Actively participating in planning meetings by: Analyzing the cognitive demands of the lesson Identifying and planning for learning Sharing and collaborating on teaching strategies Providing/developing differentiated resources
● Acting as an advocate for students
● Facilitating Intervention Plan reviews with stakeholders
● Maintaining records of interventions in a confidential, consistent and accurate manner
● Keeping up-to-date with research and current practice in the field
● Carry out other duties as requested by the Student Support Director/Principal

Qualifications
● Bachelor's degree or higher in Special Education Minimum 5 years' experience working in schools. At least 2 years' experience in learning support roles
● Experience in working with students with a wide range of learning differences liaising with numerous stakeholders working within an inclusive model
● Experience with administering formal and informal assessments and differentiating instruction
● Experience working with the IB framework preferred

Reimbursement for one economy class return ticket provided for dependent child(ren) enrolled as a full time student in an undergraduate college or university program, to visit parents at KAUST twice per school year (subject to capped amount, determined by country).

Moving Allowance
15% of annual base salary, a fixed one-time payment per family
