SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS

Learning Support Coordinators are expected to:

Identify students with additional learning needs
Lead, plan, deliver, and monitor additional learning support programmes
Support class teachers and provide training for the most effective teaching approaches
To lead, develop and manage the additional learning support staff
Liaise with outside agencies as necessary and keep up-to-date with developments in additional learning support
Develop individual educational plans which are aligned with the learning needs of students
Work closely with homeroom and subject teachers to monitor students’ progress and individual educational plans
Work with the Academic Coordinator to ensure all necessary arrangements and modifications are made for relevant students in internal examinations (termly summative examinations)
Work closely with LSC on other campuses and schools
Work closely with Safeguarding Officer and Welfare Coordinator for students referrals that are linked to social, and emotional needs
Ensure regular meetings take place with all stakeholders (including parents) who are helping each student with their additional learning support needs and communicate strategies and progress effectively.
Ensure student's records are kept of all documentation relating to each child with additional needs
Participate in the annual revision of learning support policy and procedures
Take necessary professional development programmes to better support students with the latest interventions and teaching strategies
Organize and deliver termly campaigns on raising awareness on various learning differences to main stakeholders (students, teachers, and staff)
Organize and deliver yearly parenting seminars on raising awareness on various learning differences as well as handling and raising a child with learning differences
Bridging parents and schools to collaborate with external psychologists to support students with social and emotional needs
