POSITION OVERVIEW
JOB REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor Degree or higher in Education; certification in Special Education
- Minimum 3 years of experience working as a teacher, preferably within an international setting
in the role of learning support
- Experience supporting diverse learners through co-planning, co-teaching, targeted instruction,
and targeted intervention
- Experience with Multi-Tiered Systems of Support for exceptional learners
INCLUSIVE LEARNING SPECIALIST POSITION DESCRIPTION
- Exceptional interpersonal skills that facilitate development of strong relationships with students,
colleagues, and parents
- Demonstrated broad knowledge of exceptional learning challenges and recommended
interventions
- Able to support teachers, students, and families in the areas of English Language Arts (literacy)
and Math (numeracy)
- Knowledge or understanding of the Universal Design for Learning framework
- Knowledge or experience with the IB PYP curriculum framework
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Help ensure learning is accessible for all students, through a co-instructional model that
includes co-planning, co-teaching, co-assessing, and co-reflecting with classroom teachers and
instructional assistants
- Work directly with the Inclusive Learning Services Coordinator to advocate for and build
capacity around high quality Tier 1 instruction
- Collaborate with classroom teachers to further develop and implement effective Tier 1
strategies
- Collaborate with classroom teachers to develop and implement specific interventions as needed
- Provide and train other teachers to provide short-term Tier II high-quality interventions for
students that are tailored to their
learning needs and monitor progress
- Develop and monitor progress toward Individualized Learning Support Plan goals outlined in
for students receiving Tier III support
- Provide intensive Tier III support for students focused on direct, intensive, small group, or
individual intervention targeting specific area(s) of need based on data
 - Serve as a contributing member of the School-wide Student Support Team, the Inclusive
Learning Services Team, and grade level teams
- Lead annual Individual Learning Plan (ILP) reviews for students receiving Tier III support
- Lead professional learning sessions with teams of teachers based on needs identified
- Actively participate in school-sponsored events & activities
- Actively support the School through participation in the Co-Curricular Program
- Perform additional duties as assigned

Number of Contract Days

190 days, 180 student contact days.

Starting Salary Range

The maximum entry-level is step 5 (5 years of experience): approximately $43,297 USD for a Bachelor's Degree and $45,895 USD for a Master's Degree.

Top of the scale is $48,000 (BA) or $50,000 (MA) after teaching at VIS for 9 years.

Taxes

The School pays all applicable local personal income taxes. Some nationalities are required to pay taxes in their own country.

Savings Potential

A single teacher can save one-third of their salary. Couples and families can typically save one salary.

Accommodation

Teaching staff generally live close to the school (within several km). Many teachers chose to live in houses however, more apartments are becoming available every year. Teachers are assigned housing at the beginning of their contract.

Flights/Transport

We provide round trip economy fares at the end of each year for the teacher and eligible dependents.

Utilities

Utilities are the responsibility of the teacher.

Furniture

Houses are partially furnished including: basic living room, dining room and bedroom furniture as well as AC's, microwave, water dispenser and cooking range.

Moving Allowance

VIS provides a relocation allowance of which 50% is paid on arrival. This money offsets some of the expenses of setting up a new home.

Dependent Opportunities

Two students, eligible under the school admissions policies, are covered for all tuition fees.

Medical

The school offers high quality international medical Insurance plan that provides for evacuation, vision and dental.

There is Disability and Death cover included for all employees as part of the medical coverage.
