The Dehong secondary school teacher is a chemistry subject specialist and an outstanding progressive educator. Group Leader Responsibilities
• To promote outstanding teaching and learning in the Group that focuses on creating a bilingual, bicultural experience that inspires and will enthuse students to learn.
• Creating a positive culture in the whole group; to be an enthusiastic role-model with a passion for their group and to be accountable for student progress and achievement within the group area.
• Assist in developing a coherent PE curriculum that aligns its objectives and learning outcomes with CNC curriculum standards and Dehong Vision & Mission.
• Liaise with MHEDB to arrange and administer the Government Fitness Test with assistance from the Academic Office.
• Support in coordinating the Zhongkao PE test with the Academic Office, which includes registration, data collection, and result analysis to improve teaching practices.
• Ensure appropriate Unit Planners are in place
• Effective monitoring of student progress on an individual or group basis (e.g. by teaching group, gender, etc.
• Ensure school's assessment framework is adhered to by the group team.
• Ensure effective management and deployment of financial, physical and human resources.
• Ensure the group team's teaching and support commitments are effectively timetabled and roomed
• Attend regular line management meetings with the linked SLT member.
• Cover arrangements, including setting appropriate cover work for absent staff if necessary.
• Contribute and lead regular group meetings with teaching and learning as a standard agenda item.
• Provide agendas and minutes of these meetings to all members of the group team, and to the SLT if required.
• Create a Group development plan that mirrors the school development plan.
• Ensure appropriate monitoring activities are undertaken through regular paired lesson observations (at least one per teacher per term), and through scrutiny of students' work, including homework, and teachers' planning, marking and assessment, in line with school monitoring policies.
• Through monitoring of assessment data, ensure appropriate targets for progress and attainment are set; that attainment is appropriate for specific groups of students, particularly EAL; identify areas of actual or potential underachievement and implement appropriate strategies to address these.
• Ensure positive behaviour for learning policies and procedures are implemented to enable effective learning to take place.
• Ensure appropriate and effective induction of teaching staff new to the group team.
• Ensure appropriate measures are in place to coach, mentor, support and guide new teachers to the group.
• Ensure that the group provides appropriate support for students applying for relevant university course, especially those applying to elite universities
• Ensure that the group provides appropriate outlets for the development of the Dehong Difference, including supporting the Qidi programme and House Competition.
• Lead and maintain FireFly, particularly the group area section and produce a short weekly blog for parents.

Director of Sports Responsibilities
• To coordinate and deliver a high quality extra curricular sports program in the School, which includes but is not limited to, the following responsibilities:
o At the start of each academic year to meet with the other schools in Shanghai and set dates for fixtures for boys and girls in a range of sports
o To arrange other fixtures as appropriate to seasonal sports.
o Have oversight of the arrangements for athletics championships
o To allocate to each team a coach or coaches either from the PE staff and qualified appointed coaches or/and from teaching staff who have expressed a preference to run a team and are suitably qualified and experienced.
o To oversee the arrangements for tournaments in all sports
o To source and support suitable PD opportunities for teaching and coaching staff
• Ensure that the sports curriculum and extracurricular sports activities are closely linked and that all members of the PE team contribute to the school's extra-curricular program.
• To organise and chair regular meetings of the School PE staff for curriculum alignment, extra-curricular provision, facilities management and information sharing.
• The position will include a curriculum teaching requirement with a reduced load according to the responsibility scale.
