This position is for an enthusiastic and open-minded Grade 5 teacher with PYP Experience.

Head Teacher Responsibilities

Responsible for designing, implementing, and evaluating the teaching and learning processes and engagements that promote the learning, growth, and development of each child. Supports and scaffolds the work of co-teachers; collaborates with all members of staff; maintains good relationships and communication with parents, team teaching partners, and children; prepares and facilitates creative and authentic documentation of learning; ensures effective use of resources; actively supports school community events and initiatives; embraces a growth mindset and positively contributes to the school climate.

Specific duties

Mission & Vision:

- Follow the School’s philosophy of child development to promote the physical, social, cognitive, emotional, and spiritual growth of the children.
- Follow the PYP essential agreements drafted by the school community. Actively promotes and engages with the essential elements of the IB PYP.
- Implement the Teacher's College Reading and Writing Workshop Units of Study and Conceptual Approach to Math into daily integrated practice.
- Plan, Teach, Reflect and Assess in collaborative vertical teams according to rigorous Learning Targets and Standards outlined by the MYIS program.
- Promote active parent involvement and encourage families to participate in their child’s learning journey in a variety of ways.
- Organize and attend school community events and engage in the extra-curricular school program.
- Embody a Growth Mindset by actively engaging in professional growth through coaching cycles, professional development, and reflective conversations, including professional appraisal/goal setting.
- Foster strong home/school communication through platforms such as in-person/virtual meetings, email, and Seesaw.
- Actively, and positively participate in committees and other duties related to the growth of the entire school community.

Documenting and Collaborating:

- Plan and execute Program of Inquiry (POI) according to standards set by MYIS and the IB.
- Authentically document the teaching and learning journey through the MYIS PYP Collaborative Planning Process.
- Authentically document teaching and learning including conceptual understandings, learning objectives, assessments, and intentional environments
- Formative assessment should be used to document student progress in order to inform teaching and learning.
- Collaborate with specialist teachers to enhance authentic integration of their single subject into the grade level Programme of Inquiry.
- Foster collaborative relationships with colleagues across all areas of the school and contribute to a school climate that is high in trust and is a place of psychological safety.
- Actively engage in collaborative meeting opportunities and contribute to the ongoing growth of the MYIS program.

Teaching and Learning:

- Plan and execute a clearly defined environment that is arranged to promote independence, foster decision-making, and empower student agency and action.
- Design purposeful developmentally appropriate learning engagements that integrate a conceptual approach to math, a balanced approach to literacy and opportunities for inquiry-based learning.
- Provide a holistic curriculum that fosters teaching and learning at a deeper conceptual level.
- The classroom must reflect the PYP learning journey by adjusting the environment regularly in response to authentic assessment of student learning.
- IB Learner Profile and Approaches to Learning should be reflected through the learning environments and student reflections.
- Authentic, student-driven reflection should be captured through the year in a portfolio that is used as a key resource for reflection on learning.

Taxes

Thai personal income tax is to be paid by the employee through monthly salary deductions of approximately 20-25%.

Accommodation

Housing allowance covers a 3-bedroom townhouse near school (Pakkred) or a 1-bedroom condo in the Ari neighborhood (Bangkok).

Flights/Transport

Beginning of Contract: Flight from the country of origin to Thailand.

Moving Allowance

Beginning of Contract: One-time relocation allowance offered. Amount disbursed upon arrival in Thailand.

Dependent Opportunities

Tuition, registration and application fees waived for up to 2 accompanying dependent children.
