Position: Elementary School Counselor

We are seeking an experienced and qualified Elementary School Counselor to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing counseling services to elementary/primary school students within our International curriculum.

Our ES counselors are an integral part of the care and welfare team working with our youngest learners in grades PK-5. They have a range of responsibilities and are expected to play a full part in the life of our vibrant Elementary School.

School counselors at ISB collaborate with students, parents, teachers, and administrators to support student learning and well-being. Our school counseling program is developmental in nature and comprehensive, focusing on academic, social, and personal growth for all students in grades pre-K through 12.

The elementary school counseling team has 3 school counselors and 1 school psych. In addition to providing responsive services and individual student planning, all elementary school counselors collaborate with homeroom teachers to deliver a counseling curriculum that includes exploration of topics from character strengths, online safety, and “safe touch” to human growth and development.

School counseling license or certification and/or a Master’s degree in counseling.
Minimum of three years of experience in full-time employment as a school counselor in an early childhood and/or elementary school setting.
Early childhood (ages 3-8) counseling experience is preferred.
ECE and/or ES teaching experience is desirable.
Deep understanding of the range of early childhood development and the ability to support teachers with initial behavior management and intervention.
Experience with parent education and demonstrated commitment to parent partnership.
Knowledge and experience in Child Safeguarding.
Social and Emotional Learning (SEL) expertise or training.
Positive interpersonal skills and the ability to develop strong relationships with people of diverse backgrounds. Highly collaborative.
Demonstrated commitment to Diversity, Equity, Inclusion & Belonging
Experience leading and a deep understanding of a Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS) and/or Response to Intervention (RTI) model is desired.
Skills in facilitating processes for identifying and implementing Tier 2 behavioral interventions.
Skills in conflict resolution, problem-solving, and crisis response.
Demonstrated growth mindset and commitment to lifelong learning.
Advocate for ISB's philosophy of care among all stakeholders.
Appropriate sense of humor
Other duties as appropriately assigned by the ES Principal and Director of Student Support Services.
