OVERVIEW OF THE POSITION
The Learning Support Teacher will be responsible for providing specialized instruction and support to students with diverse learning needs. The Learning Support Teacher a deep understanding of different learning styles and be skilled in implementing effective strategies to help students succeed academically and develop essential skills.
QUALIFICATIONS
• Bachelor’s degree in special education, education, or a related field (master’s degree preferred).
• Teaching certification in Special Education.
• Proven experience working with students with diverse learning needs.
• Strong knowledge of various learning disabilities and behavioral disorders
• Ability to create and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) tailored to each student’s needs.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills with students, parents, and colleagues
• Patience, empathy, and a passion for helping students overcome learning challenges.
• Familiarity with assistive technologies and adaptive learning tools.
• Continuous commitment to professional development and staying updated on the latest research and best practices in special education.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Assessment and Individualized Planning
• Conduct assessments to identify students’ learning needs and challenges.
• Develop and implement personalized education plans (IEPs / SENs) for students with diverse learning needs.
• Collaborate with classroom teachers and other professionals to design appropriate accommodations and modifications for students.
Instruction and Support
• Provide direct instruction to students both inside and outside the classroom setting.
• Utilize various teaching methods and tools to accommodate different learning styles.
• Monitor student progress and adjust instructional strategies as needed.
• Offer academic and behavioral support to help students overcome challenges and build self-confidence.
Collaboration and Communication
• Collaborate with classroom teachers, parents, and other specialists to create a supportive learning environment.
• Communicate regularly with parents to update them on their child’s progress and address concerns.
• Attend team meetings, workshops, and professional development sessions to enhance skills and knowledge.
Professional Development for Classroom Teachers
• Impart support techniques and best practices to classroom teachers through professional development and training sessions.
• Conduct workshops and training sessions to educate teachers on effective strategies for supporting students with diverse learning needs.
• Provide ongoing guidance and resources to empower classroom teachers in creating inclusive classrooms.
Documentation and Reporting
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of student progress, interventions, and assessments.
• Prepare and submit regular progress reports to parents, administrators, and other stakeholders.
• Assist in the preparation of documents required for IEP meetings and/or other special education-related activities (SEN meetings).
Professional Development
• Stay informed about the latest developments in special education and learning support strategies.
• Participate in professional development opportunities and training programs to enhance skills and knowledge.

Retirement
Severance pay equal to 1/2 month salary per academic year worked upon your departure from the school. (ie: if you work for 4 academic years, you will receive an additional 2 months of salary upon departure) in accordance with Vietnamese Labor Law.
