UWC Waterford Kamhlaba is an international school located in Eswatini, Africa. We are a part of the United World Colleges movement and offer education to students from diverse backgrounds. Our aim is to provide a challenging and transformative educational experience that empowers our students to become agents of positive change in their communities.
Position: Economics Teacher
We are currently seeking an experienced Economics Teacher for our Social Sciences department. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IB DP) curriculum at the high/secondary school level.
Skills and Qualifications:
- A Bsc or BA Economics or a related field
- At least 3 years experience delivering IBDP or A Level Economics courses
- Experience teaching Global Politics would be a distinct advantage
- Experience teaching TOK would be an added distinct advantage
- A strong understanding of the IB and IGCSE philosophies and assessment methods.
- An Honours or Masters’ Degree would be an advantage
- Professional teaching qualification e.g. PGCE
-Passion for student-centered teaching and learning and the ability to develop meaningful relationships with young people
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
- Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues across departments
- Passion for teaching and commitment to student success
Responsibilities
Teach Economics to a diverse range of students from across the world
Work with colleagues in the department to continually improve and align pedagogical approaches
Develop and update curricular resources and assessment
Contribute to student growth outside the classroom by supervising a community service activity, club and/or a co-curricular activity
Serve as a tutor to 12 students
Perform residential duties
Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people at the College
